Never – if you want to keep your existing telephone number. You do not need to cancel your existing phone line; we will perform this for you if you request your number to be transferred.

What happens if I don't want to keep my existing number, can I call my current operator and cancel my existing line?
Yes, if you do not wish to keep your current number then you can cancel your existing service and enjoy substantial savings on your line rental immediately. However, you will no longer receive calls on your old number from the time of cancellation and if you cancel your line we will not be able to transfer your old number to your new line should you change your mind.

I currently pay telephone line rental to an operator other than eircom; will I still be able to transfer my telephone number from this operator to you?
In the majority of cases, yes. However we will need a copy of your latest telephone line rental bill from your operator which states your Universal Account Number (UAN).

Once we have received your completed Porting of Numbers Notice form and a bill from your current telephone line rental operator, the process normally takes two to three weeks for the transfer to be completed.

If the transfer has been agreed between us and your old provider, you will receive a phone call or letter from us with details of the transfer date.
